Data Collection of the Local Wisdom on “The Nine Pills” – Techniques on How to Depend on Yourself Using Sufficiency Economy and Dhamma

Question: Could you tell us about your background?

Morkeaw: About myself… Well, I’m a country boy. My father was a teacher. My mother was a farmer. I went to school in the countryside. When I was a student, in general I was always one of the top ten students. Later, I moved to study at the College of Nursing Praputhabat, Saraburi Province and received my Associate Degree. After that I pursued my Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health and I graduated with a B.A. in Public Health Administration from Sukhothai Thammathirat University. After that I studied Liberal Arts at the Faculty of Integral Development Studies for my Master’s. I chose to study in this field so that I could do my thesis in Dhamma Alternative Medicine or using Dhamma for the treatment of diseases. Then I continued my research until I received my honorary doctorate degree from Sisaket Rajabhat University in Regional Development Strategies so I could use the knowledge to help the public. Now I’m studying for my PhD in Community Public Health at Surindra Rajabhat University. I’m close to finishing now.

Question: Why did you choose to work in the field of “health”?

Morkeaw: When I was young, I did not plan to work in the “health” field. I hated hospitals. I was afraid of germs and other things. I didn’t want to deal with germs. I felt that many people were suffering from germs. However, when I was a child, I got sick often. I got sick from all kinds of diseases. I had to receive lots of injections. My life was suffering. Life has been hard. I really didn’t want to work in this field. I wanted to be a soldier. So I took a test to become a soldier in the air force. I passed the exam but I did not report in time so I did not have a chance to be in combat in this life. Finally, I ended up working in the field of public health. I originally studied conventional medicine science and eventually other subjects on medicine.

Question: And how did you end up being an alternative medicine scholar?

Morkeaw: When I studied conventional medicine science, I didn’t think that I would be working in alternative medicine. I never thought that I would be an alternative medicine doctor. Why? Because when I was studying conventional medicine, I believed that the conventional medicine that we presently use could solve all problems. That was my general belief before I studied conventional medicine. Well, I studied it and I graduated. I tried to use my knowledge in conventional medicine to help the people as much as I could, but I was not that successful even though I did my best. I think I could solve maybe only 20% of the problems. Therefore, I realized that I could not use the knowledge of conventional medicine alone to solve all the problems. It could only solve parts of it. I respect the area where it can help but the area that it cannot help, I had to find other ways to solve those. Some we can solve, some we cannot. We are all stuck! So I decided to study traditional Thai medicine, alternative medicine, folk medicine both traditionally and untraditionally; both in Thailand and in other countries. I tried to gain knowledge as much as I could. I combined all kinds of medicines that I have learned to solve the problems. The result in average was about 40% in problem solving. I still couldn’t solve half of the problems. The 40% that I was solving was not successful. Patients got the same sickness and even more seriously. It was to the point that I couldn’t use what I learned to solve the problem. That’s an example. So I thought to myself, “What’s happening?” And finally…well, I didn’t think that I would discover the Dhamma Alternative Medicine. I was stressed out. I didn’t know where to go. I didn’t know where to solve this life problem. I studied all kinds of medicine, but they still didn’t work. Since I couldn’t solve the problems, I turned to practicing Dhamma. I read the book of Tripitaka and practiced along with it. I read the Tripitaka, listened to my teachers and kept practicing. And finally, I have discovered the truth. Lord Buddha has said how to solve every problem in life, including health problems. This is what I have discovered. So I use the good points of other medicines and combine it with Dhamma and the philosophy of sufficiency economy. This philosophy has been mentioned by the King of Thailand which is in accordance with what Lord Buddha has mentioned. The essence goes hand-in-hand beautifully.  The Dhamma Alternative Medicine has the substance that I am interested in. Taking care of health by addressing the cause using something economical and simple that everybody can afford is something Lord Buddha has mentioned. It’s exactly what I wanted. I wanted to be able to solve my own problem. So this is the background of Dhamma Alternative Medicine.

Question: What do you mean by “Treating Every Disease for 0 Baht”?

Morkeaw: Why 0 baht for treatment of every disease? The reason I charge 0 baht is because I feel that the truth of life is people suffering from sickness and diseases. Firstly, people get sicker and sicker. Secondly, the costs of treatment get higher. Thirdly, people can help themselves less and less. This is what people in the present world are going through. These three issues are huge problems of people these days. When many people are ill, the have to spend a lot of money to hire other people to take care of them. They have to hire people with knowledge to take care of sick people. When they are sick, they can’t take care of themselves. That’s why they have to save a lot of money to spend when they are sick so they have money for the treatment. People have to work so hard in order to save a lot of money. They have to look for ways to make money. I look at this and think “if you are born poor or you do not have a lot of money, you can’t be strong and can’t cure yourself.”  This world is not worth living in. Maybe I should just die. Why do I have to live? Just get sick and die. However, after I saw what Lord Buddha has mentioned, “if you want to get rid of your suffering, you should consume very little, consume something that’s easy to find and not harmful to your body.” There are things that we need in life such as food, clothes and medicine. Lord Buddha emphasizes this in “chatari sutra.” Lord Buddha says that one should only consume little and economically; something that is easy to find around us; something that is not harmful to our bodies. After hearing that, I said, “This is it!” I was very happy. I could cure myself by not using chemical drugs. Except for accidents, we need Western doctors to take care of us when we are injured. However, we can balance our bodies to make them strong and the disease will decrease or go away. This is up to each person. Sometimes when it’s necessary, we need to depend on Western medicine; only for some people, not for everybody; only a small percentage, like 10 or 20% that really need pharmaceutical drugs. The rest of the people don’t need drugs. Therefore, if I train myself, I will not need any of these drugs. After I discovered this, I felt very happy. I felt that my life is secured. If other people also discover it, they should be happy as well. That’s what I think. They should be happy if they have this knowledge and can take care of themselves. So I decided to spread this knowledge so that people can become their own doctors. It’s 0 baht to treat every disease. You do not need to spend any money.

Question: What are the “Nine Pills” that you discovered?

Morkeaw: Actually, the “Nine Pills” are the nine practical ways that one can practice in order to keep the body strong and to reduce illnesses according to the Dhamma Alternative Medicine. I use the word “Nine Pills” to tell people that it’s a practice that they can use to deal with diseases. If you take care of yourself correctly, you can be healed. I want to tell people that when you take medicine, you are doing something to heal yourself. Now let’s talk about the “Nine Pills.” How did I find out about this? After I studied the truth of life and the energy inside people, I learned that the body always tries to push out bad energy and toxins out of the body; and absorb good nutrients for the body. This is an automatic reflex of the body. It does that all the time. The body tries to push out toxins all the time in every way. If the toxin is stuck and cannot be rid of, that’s when sickness arises. I have learned different ways to get rid of toxins from the body, which ones are the most effective, etc. I have found different ways to remove toxins and bad energy out of the body. That’s the discovery of the “Nine Pills.” I use the technique of balancing the hot and cold elements from the study of various medicines. I acquired the most knowledge from the “dhamma.” Lord Buddha mentions how to take care of your health in “sankhiti sutra.” He mentions about the balance of hot and cold elements. If life is balanced from the heating and cooling effects, the body will be far from sickness and suffering. This is mentioned in “sankhiti sutra” and “chivaka sutra.” Lord Buddha also mentions about the balance of the cooling and heating effects in materials and in our minds as well.  For material things, we need to adjust the elements such as earth, water, wind and fire for each season. For the mind, we have to face the consequence of our acts or karma. If we have good karma along with good balance, we will be healthy. If we have bad karma along with imbalance, we will get sick. It’s written in “sankhiti sutra.” And in “apath sutra,” Lord Buddha mentions clearly how a person can become healthy and strong. In “apath sutra,” Lord Buddha mentions how to balance the heating and cooling effects and how karma can affect one’s health. He also mentions about reducing desire, anger and greed. This is the root of diseases. If we do good deeds and can balance the cooling and heating effects along with reducing our desire, anger and greed, our mind will become clear and content. If you can do this, Lord Buddha says that your sickness will reduce immediately. If you do it in an efficient way, it will disappear immediately and you will be strong right away. I would say you will be better “at that very moment.”

Question: Could you explain about balancing overcooling and overheating conditions?

·         Morkeaw: We have to start by learning the principle of balancing the hot and cold elements. You can learn it from your own body. For example, when we are in the sun, we feel it’s very very very hot. We don’t feel good. Our energy is down. It is not possible that our energy is down by not losing any energy. This means, when the body feels hot and we add more heat to it, the body will feel hotter. Therefore, the body has to produce more energy to get rid of the extra heat which causes the body to feel down and fatigue. So if we feel very hot and the body touches something that is cold, for example being in the shade or in an air-conditioned room or drinking cold water, our body will cool down. It will feel good with energy. It is not possible that we can get this kind of energy if the body doesn’t get it from somewhere. This means when the body feels very hot, it will need some cooling effects to balance it. Once the body feels the coolness, it will absorb that and use it as energy. That’s why we have more energy. This is the mechanical system of our life. On the other hand, when we feel very very very cold and we are in a place that is even colder, we will not feel good and the body will feel exhausted. It is not possible that the body is exhausted by not losing energy. This means while the body is feeling cold and it is exposed to more cold, the body has to use extra energy to get rid of that coldness. Therefore, the energy level goes down. However, when we feel very cold and the body touches something that has heating effects such as being in the sun, sitting by the fireplace, soaking the body in a hot tub or putting a blanket around or doing anything that will keep the body warmer, we will feel good and have more energy. It is not possible to have more energy without receiving it from elsewhere. Therefore, when we feel very cold and our body touches something that has a heating effect, the hot and the cold will give balance to our body. The body will use that to create energy.  And how do we know whether we have overcooling or overheating symptoms, or maybe we have the mixture of both? First of all, we can tell by how we feel. If we feel good, the body is light with lots of energy, this means that the body is well balanced. On the other hand, if we don’t feel happy, we don’t feel good; the body feels heavy without energy; that’s when the body is not balanced. This is what we have to look at first. It’s written in the Tripitaka in “anayutsa sutra,” “kokkachuma sutra,” and “chulakammaviphangkha sutra.”  So if we feel good and light with energy, it means that the body is balanced and we are healthy. And if we don’t feel good and light with energy, it means that the body is out of balance. Now we have to look at how it is out of balance.  Once we know the basics, we have to learn how to fix it. There are three ways of imbalance: overheating, overcooling or the mixture of both. This can be deceptive. It may be a false overcooling or overheating condition. So there are three main types of imbalanced conditions. One is overheating. Most people in our present society are out of balance this way. This happens mainly because of stress, spicy food, animal products, food with lots of additives, food with heating effects. They are also exposed to machines, electric appliances and electronic devices. All of these along with other pollutions can cause people to have an overheated condition. I would say about 80% of people are overheated and about 5% are overcooled – with the opposite reasons. About 15% of the population has the mixture of overcooling and overheating conditions which happens at the same time. This is a big picture. And how can we tell if we are overheated, overcooled or both? We have to evaluate by looking at the main symptom and the “dominant symptom.” If it’s the main symptom, the symptom never changes. And if it’s a dominant symptom, 80% of the symptom is the main symptom and it may change. So we will have to learn about the dominant symptom.  For those who have overheating condition, they have the following symptoms: dry throat; feeling thirsty (and they feel better after drinking water); having bumps and pain; feeling tightness or numbness; having wound or pus or rash; having dark urine and little volume; hard stool; feeling low energy and feeling heavy; having fast heartbeats; expansion of arteries. These are the symptoms of those who have overheating condition. For those who have overcooling condition, they have the following dominant symptoms: mouth and throat are moist; not feeling thirsty; feeling no taste of water, pale lips and mouth; tightness and numbness in the body; flatulence; dizziness; having cold hands and feet; clear urine with a lot of volume; loose stool; drop of energy; fatigue; feeling heavy; soft pulse; contraction of the artery. These are the dominant symptoms for people that are overcooled. For those who have the mixture of both conditions - the dominant symptoms can happen at the same time. For example, they have a fever (heating effect) but are shivering from cold (cooling effect). Another example is having a headache at the same time of flatulence. Having a headache is heating and flatulence is cooling. People that have the mixture of overheating and overcooling conditions can experience that at the same time.

Question: Do you have a way to check to see whether we have an overheating or vercooling condition?

Morkeaw: We can check by using objects that have a heating or cooling effect to touch our body. We have to know beforehand what effect that object gives. For example, plain water has a cooling effect; warm water has both cooling and heating effects and hot water has a heating effect. Some of the plants with a cooling effect are yanang, pandan leaves, morning glory, centella asistica (benjarong) and justicia gangetica (omsaeb). Some of the plants with a heating effect are turmeric, ginger, galangal, lemon grass, holy basil, sweet basil, garlic, lesser galangal and pepper. If you mix these two kinds of plants together, you will get both heating and cooling effects. So we can use one of these plants to put on our body where we don’t feel good for about 5 to 10 minutes. We can also keep it in the mouth for 1 to 3 minutes. You can also swallow it. Wait to see the result in 30 minutes. You can also expose it to the body in other ways such as putting it in the enema solution or other manners that they can be exposed to the body. Then wait and see. What makes you feel good and energized will give you balance and it’s good for you. What makes you feel uncomfortable and not at ease or not energized will not work for you. It’s not good for balancing.   If your body is exposed to something with a cooling effect but you don’t feel good, it means that your body has an overcooling condition. If your body is exposed to something cool and you feel good, it means that your body has an overheating condition. If your body touches something with a heating effect and you don’t feel good, it means that your body has an overheating condition. If it touches something hot but it feels good, it means that the body has an overcooling condition. If the body feels good after exposed to both heating and cooling objects, it means that the body has mixed conditions.

Question: Could you talk a little bit about your health camp?

Morkeaw: Here’s the background of our “Sufficiency Economy and Dhamma” health camp. We started off by recommending how people can take care of their health. Then people started feeling better and they told other people about it. It’s all word-of-mouth. Then we had more and people that wanted to join the camp. We cannot take all the people at one location because people traveled from all over Thailand and from all over the world. Sometimes it’s hard for people to get to a particular location. Some people can only make it to the camp that is near to their home. Therefore we have many camps that have our volunteers. These volunteers get together to do good deeds near their homes. There are two kinds of camps. One is the main camp at our center at Suan Pa Na Bun Camp #1 in Don Tan District, Mukdahan Province. Suan Pa Na Bun Camp #2 is in Cha-uat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Suan Pa Na Bun Camp #3 is located at Khlong Sam Subdistrict in Pathum Thani Province. Suan Pa Na Bun Camp #4 is in That Phanom District, Nakhon Phanom Province. We are planning to have the fifth Suan Pa Na Bun Camp in Rayong Province. We also have Suan Pa Photharam at Photharam Hospital in Ratchaburi Province. We also have other small centers. People who have learned the “Dhamma Alternative Medicine” get together. Some do it just by themselves. Some do it as a group.  They gradually hold health camps in various parts of Thailand and all over the world. We also go to America to hold our health camp there. For people in other countries, they learn it from us and then use it to help each other. Now the knowledge has spread all over the world. Therefore, our health camp can help many people at the same time. We charge zero baht to treat every disease. That means everybody can learn to take care of themselves and cure whatever disease they have. Each person has different diseases so they can learn to take care of themselves by using the “Dhamma Alternative Medicine” or combining it with other methods as necessary and as appropriate. However, we mainly teach how to take care of yourself. Then we add other supplementary information. It is up to each individual. They can consider how to use that knowledge accordingly.

Question: Could you talk about some of the cases that used the Dhamma Alternative Medicine? Have these people’s symptoms improved?

Morkeaw: We have many sample cases. Many people have been treated by other types of medicines and did not get better, but when they start using the “Dhamma Alternative Medicine,” they get better. Like Aunt Pahn. She had many diseases. I think she had 11 surgeries. After she used the “Dhamma Alternative Medicine,” she felt better and did not need any more surgeries. She gradually felt better and her diseases gradually went away. Even people with kidney failure or SLE whose doctors could no longer treat them and they were already in the ICUs, they started using our method and they felt better. They used our method while they were in the ICUs. When they got stronger, they kept using it. People that had kidney failure no longer have it.

Question: For beginners or those who are interested in the Dhamma Alternative Medicine, where can they get additional information?

Morkeaw: If you want to know about our network, our locations and our activities, you can follow us on the Internet at morkeaw.net. You can also get information from us at the Bureau of Alternative Medicine, Ministry of Public Health.

Pill Number 1 – Taking Herbs to Balance Health Factors

Morkeaw: The benefits of chlorophyll drink from “cooling” plants: They can protect cells; balance the hot and cold elements in the body. At the same time, they nourish the blood, eyesight, skin and heart. They also help with apthous ulcer, cough, fever or even food poisoning. You can benefit from using these “cooling plants.” Now let’s talk about chlorophyll water. We can find different kinds of herbs that are easy to find in your area. They should be plants with cooling effects such as, morning glory, ivy gourd, blue trumpet vine wan “kaap hoy” (tradescantia spathacea stearn), or “omsap” (justicia gangetica). You can use other kinds of vegetables that have cooling effects that you can find in your area. You can choose one or mix them up. The process of making chlorophyll drink is very simple. You simply prepare clean water or boiled water or clean filtered water. Then thoroughly clean the vegetables. After that you can put them in a blender or crush them in a mortar or you can squeeze or rub them hard. Try to avoid heat during this process. After that, filter it with a strainer or a piece of white, thin cloth. You will now get concentrated chlorophyll water. You can drink it to balance your health. It’s very easy to drink this chlorophyll beverage. After we have the concentrated water, we dilute it to make the color light green. You can estimate it by looking or you can use the ratio of 1 to 10. One is the concentrate and 10 is plain water. The technique is you drink it until you feel good. You can drink this chlorophyll water when you feel hot or don’t feel good.  For example, you need to drink water, right? You can just drink it throughout the day instead of plain water. If you want to drink it before a meal, you should drink it at least half an hour before eating. After eating, please wait for the food to digest for about one hour, you can drink it instead of water. It’s very easy to keep the chlorophyll drink. You can keep it in the refrigerator for up to seven days. If the taste changes, you can use it for something else such as watering the plants. There’s one thing to be aware of. When you drink it and you feel like it’s stuck in your throat or you don’t feel good, you can mix it with warm water or you can mix it with plants with heating effects such as herbs that are used for Tom Yam soup. They have heating effects. In summary, when you drink chlorophyll water to balance the hot and cold elements, you have to feel good and more energized after drinking it.

Pill Number 2 – Gua Sha (Skin Detoxification)

“Gua” means “to scrape” and “sha” means “toxin.” We use a smooth-edge object to rub around the toxic area or where there’s a problem. The friction causes heat which stimulates the pores to enlarge. The toxins in the blood will be stimulated and move to the skin and eventually comes out. This makes the body feel better. We can use this technique to help patients with many types of diseases.
The tool that we use is a small smooth-edge object that we can find around us, such as a coin, a spoon, a small bowl or a lid. Make sure that it’s not sharp and pointy. You can also use a “gua-sha” stick or a coconut ladle.
For lubrication, you can use balm or coconut oil or any kind of cooking oil. Check whether it’s a hot or a cold day. If it’s a hot day, use a lubricant with a cooling effect. If it’s a cold day, use a lubricant with a heating effect. If you don’t have any of those, you can use just plain water. Or you can just rub through your clothes.
This is how we scrape. We mainly do it on the back. We also do it on the arms, head, face the chest or stomach area and the legs; or the area that we don’t feel good.
This technique can indicate the level of toxicity in the body. We can see this from the color that appears on the skin as follows. Level 1: Pink. This is normal because when the skin is rubbed, it usually turns pink. Level 2: Red. This means that there’s some level of toxicity. Level 3: Dark red or spotty red. This indicates that a lot of toxins have accumulated in the body. Level 4: Dark purple or dark color. This indicates a high level of toxicity from cancer.
When the back is rubbed, the meridian opens up. Scrape lengthwise along the spine. Do it on the left side first. About 1-2 inches from the spine. Scrape lengthwise from the neck to the coccyx. Use the same weight or strength in the same direction. Scrape about 30-50 times or as many times as it makes you feel good; or until the red color appears and no longer changes color. After that move from left to right. Do the same as the other side. 1-2 inches from the spine from neck to coccyx lengthwise. Scrape with the same weight consistently for about 30-50 times until the red color no longer changes. After that, move to a different spot. You can scrape from the shoulder to the shoulder blade. Keep scraping till the middle of the back and the waist. Scrape with the same weight in the same direction and outward from the body. Scrape from the shoulder to the shoulder blade and the middle of the back. Use the same weight and scrape for 30-50 times or as many times as that person being treated feels good or the color no longer changes. Then switch to the right side and scrape along the sides or the flanks, also scrape lengthwise.
For the face. Start by scraping from the middle of the forehead in the same direction. After the scraping the middle part, move to the side of the forehead. Do the left side first. Scrape from the middle of the forehead towards the left. Then move to the eyebrows and the eyes. For the eyes, close your eyes and scrape the eyelids. Then scrape the area around the eyes, nose, cheeks, upper lip and chin. After you are done with the left side, do the same thing on the right side. Scrape outward to right. For the head, start from the middle of the head lengthwise to the hairline. After that, change to the left side. Also scrape lengthwise. Keep scraping in the same manner until you get back to where you started. Then scrape around the hairline, auricle, back of the ear and nape of the neck.
Pill Number 3 – Detoxification of the Colon (Enema)

Enema is another way to detoxify the body. It’s a pretty fast way to remove toxins. There are three objectives for this method of detoxification. First is to remove old feces in the colon. Second is to remove the heat from the colon. The colon covers quite a large area of the skin. Therefore, it is a fast way to reduce toxins. And the third objective is to remove toxins that have been sent from the other organs such as the liver, small intestines, gallbladder or spleen. The toxins are sent to the colon. That is why cleansing the colon is a fast way to detoxify the body.
The tools that we need to cleanse the colon… The first one is a 1.5 liter bottle of water. You can use any bottle that you get from the market but you have to cut the bottom out. The next item is a long, soft tube - the same kind that is used to feed patients through the nose at the hospital… It’s very soft. At the end of the line, there are two holes for water to come out. The third item is the clamp that comes with the tube. The clamp can move up and down to stop or release the water. The fourth and important item is the cooling herb solution. Normally, we use the green herb solution. The fifth item is clean water. It is used to dilute the herb solution. The sixth item is a lubricant to put on the end of the tube for those who need it before inserting the tube into the anus.

Now let’s see how we prepare the enema. We mix the herb solution and the clean water in the right amount. Then pour the solution into the bottle that is already hooked to the tube. After that, unlock the clamp to let the water flow down the tube in order to let the air out. At the end of the tube, apply the lubricant if you think that the tube is too hard for the anus. You can use lubricants such as aloe vera gel or others as well; or you can use just water.
How far should we hang the enema bottle? From the anus to the tip of the bottle, it should be about 90 centimeters, no more than this. How deep should the insertion be? It should be about 3-5 inches; or just about the length of our index finger. That should be enough. There are three enema positions: lying down, sitting and standing. The first position is lying down. You lie on your right side with the right arm and the right side of the body on the floor along the bed. The right leg is stretched out straight while bending the left leg as much as possible to open the anus hole. Then insert the tube at the length that I already mentioned. After that, unlock the clamp to let the solution flow down. The amount of the solution can be more or less than this for both men and women. The average is one liter. Sometimes, you are at a place where it’s not convenient to lie down, you can do it while you are sitting in the bathroom. There are two ways for this. One is to squat and the other is to sit on the toilet bowl. While you are squatting, the anus hole is already open. You can insert the tube and let the water in just like when you lie down. When you sit on the toilet bowl, move your bottom so that there is space for you to insert the tube into the anus. Get into position and squeeze out the anus a little bit. Then insert the tube and release the water in the amount that you can take. For those who don’t like either lying down or siting, you can also do this while standing. Position yourself by spreading the legs a little bit. Then bend forward slightly to make the colon parallel to the floor. Squeeze out your anus lightly. Insert the tube and release the water. While the water is entering the anus and if your stomach hurts, you can stop the water. Then inhale deeply. After you feel more relaxed, release the water again. In case you feel that the water comes down too fast, you can lower the bottle to make it slower. However, if you feel that the water flows down too slowly, you can put the bottle higher. You can adjust the height to get the flow of water that is right for you. Once you get enough water, you can lock the clamp to stop the water and pull the tube out of your anus. After that you can go release and clean up. That’s the end of the process.

Pill Number 4 – Soaking Hands and Feet in Herbal Solution

This is one of the nine pills. It’s Pill No. 4. Nowadays, most people have overheating conditions. The body can get rid of heating toxins through the tips of fingers and toes. After working, the body can tighten up in the tips of fingers and toes. We can get rid of the toxins by soaking our hands in warm water. The warm water can help remove toxins. The muscles that are tightened will be softened and the toxins will be released.
The tools that we use for this are very simple. Just get two basins. Boil the water. If you want to soak your body up to the waist, you need a bigger container, such as a large basin or a tub that can hold your body. This can help remove toxins as well.
The herbs that we use are very simple. After we make the chlorophyll solution, we can use the remaining parts of the herbs for boiling. We can also add herbs with cooling or heating effects, such as banana stalk, banana skin and banana stem. Tamarind leaves are sour and they can help remove mucus and fat. You can also use nad leaves (blumea balsamifera) and other herbs that can be found in your area. If you don’t have any herbs, you can just use warm water. If you have an overcooling condition, you can add herbs with heating effects such as ginger, galangal, lemongrass or kaffir lime leaves. Just pick one. After you pick an herb, put it in a pot.  Add water, just the right amount. Let it boil for 5-10 minutes. Once the solution is ready, add plain water first. Then add the herbal solution so it is just warm enough. Do not soak your body in water that is too hot or too cold. The warm water can help detoxify and make the body feel good. After the water is prepared, find a comfortable chair to sit. Soak your hands and feet in the water. Add water to cover the wrists and ankles. Soak them for about 3 minutes. Then take them out to rest for one minute. Then soak them again. Repeat 3 times or as long as you feel comfortable. Some of you only need to soak only once and some can soak more than three times.  Just do it as long as you feel good and not to absorb back the heating toxins.

Pill Number 5 – Using an Herbal Concoction as a Mask on the Skin, as Drops, as Compresses, or for Steaming or Bathing

Pill Number 5 – Using an herbal concoction that is right for you to help detoxify. For an overheating condition, we use cooling herbs such as yanang, pandan leaves, Indian pennyworth, morning glory or omsaeb. You can use other herbs also such as banana leaf sheaf; or other herbs that are acerbic such as pomegranate skin, neem tree bark or the inside of the bark. Cut them into small pieces and pound them until they are fine. You can use it to apply to the skin on the area that you have a problem. For people with symptoms of both overheating and overcooling conditions, we use cooling herbs that have been heated by fire, such as boiling. Apply the herb concoction to the area of problem. For people with an overcooling condition, we use herbs with heating condition such as ginger, galangal, lemon grass and kaffir lime leaf. You can boil it and apply it to your skin by poultice or compressing. Put the remaining pieces of the herbs in a white, thin cloth. Make it into an herbal ball and compress it on different parts of the body such as the neck, shoulder and other problem areas.
Steaming with herbs… Use herbs that feel good to your body and boil them in water until the water becomes vapor. After you take a shower or a bath, cover yourself with a big piece of cloth like a tent and allow the vapor to steam your body. Do it as long as you feel good. You can use this steaming technique as many times as your body needs.
Taking an herbal bath… For overheating condition, use cool water for bathing; but for overcooling condition, use warm water.
Using drops is another way to detoxify. We use drops extracted from cooling herbs to drop on different parts of the body such as the eyes. For eyes, use the herbal drops on the left eye first and then on the right eye.
For ears, we use yanang extract, which is a cooling herb to drop in the ears. How to use the drops… Lie on your right side. Then drop the solution in the left ear. While dropping the solution, you can massage the ear for stimulation. Just massage for a little while or you can use a gua-sha stick to rub at the back of the ear. Leave the solution in for about 1-3 minutes or as long as you feel comfortable. Then move to the side to let the water out of the ear. Then repeat for the other side.

For nose drops – tilt your head up a little bit. Put it 2-3 drops. If no water comes out, you can add more drops until you feel water coming down the throat. Then repeat on the other side. When the water comes down the throat, you can swallow it or spit it out.

For making a mask or poultice – use the prepared herbs to apply to the areas of problem; such as tightness, pain, swelling or redness. Leave it on for a little while to reduce the discomfort.
The ingredients include marlstone powder, charcoal powder and fresh herbal solution. Mix 10 parts of marlstone powder and 1 part of charcoal powder. Then slowly add herbal solution. Stir the solution and powder to make it into a paste that is not too loose or too thick, like mud.

To apply on the face, clean the face first to remove any cosmetics. Then apply the mixed ingredients around the face, except around the eye and eyelash area because when the paste is dry, it could get in the eyes. Also avoid the area around the mouth. Make the mask thick enough so it can absorb toxins from the face. You can apply it on other problem areas. Leave it on for about 15 minutes. When it is dry and feels tight, spray extracted herb solution on to give it some moisture and to help absorb toxins. When it’s dry, you can remove the mask by slowly remove it with your hands. Then use a sponge or piece of cloth to wipe it off and rinse your face.

Pill Number 6 – Using Suitable Forms of Exercise, Acupressure or Yoga

Pill Number 6 is exercise, the use of acupressure and doing yoga. Exercise helps strengthen the muscles. When you move the body continuously, your body is trained to burn calories and creates toxic waste. When there is toxic waste, the body will try to push the toxins out. The body is also trained to absorb nutrients and energy to nourish the body. One important thing is to keep the body moving continuously, not too fast nor to slowly. You should move the body as fast as you can to the point that you feel vigorous and refreshed as possible. As Lord Buddha says, you should work as hard as you can to increase your merit, but do not exert yourself too much; which means do not torture yourself. When you move your body, you should find out which way gives you the most energy when you move the body quickly.
When the body keeps moving quickly without doing something else, the muscles or tendons will be contracted and tightened. Some of the muscles, bones or tendons are distorted. They can press or compress the veins, the nerves or the meridians. This can block the flow of blood or energy and can cause illness. Therefore, we should do the aerobic exercise along with acupressure and yoga. What for? By flexing the body, adjusting the muscles and tendons back to their positions, the body will keep its flexibility. That’s why we should do the aerobic exercise along with acupressure and yoga. Then the exercise will be complete.
The meridian points are located along the bones, close to the tendons and the nerves and V-cuts shape areas of the muscles. This means all parts located in the bones are meridian points. The areas next to the tendons are all meridian points. The areas where we feel a sharp pain, near the nerves… If you don’t know where to press, you can try to remember only a few spots. It’s good to remember at least one spot so you know that it is an important spot for the body. Actually, there are many acupressure points. Basically, if you want to know where they are, just look around the areas that are close to the bones, the tendons or the nerves, or the V-cuts shape areas of the muscles. If you still can’t remember, just press at the dented or dimpled areas of the body.

Pill Number 8 – Using Dhamma to Purify Your Mind

Pill Number 8 is to use Dhamma to stop doing bad deeds and to do good deeds in order to purify the mind. Be among good friends and company. Build a good society and environment. For our mind and soul or the human energy, Lord Buddha finds that if we do good or bad, the body will create magnetic fields that are either good or bad for the body. So we think good, we will create a good magnetic field. If we think bad, it will turn to be a bad magnetic field. These magnetic fields become our life assets. Lord Buddha says your good or bad acts that you have accumulated will have the power to form good or bad results. Lord Buddha also says in “chivaka sutra” that a person will receive good or bad things or happiness or unhappiness depending on the hot and cold balance of both the material and the mind which is the consequence of your karma. These two components go together. If you do good deeds and control the hot and cold elements, you can be healthy quickly. If you do bad deeds and do not balance your hot and cold elements, you can get sick and have many diseases along with other bad things. This is an important factor for taking care of your health. You have to do good deeds. You can just do good deeds or do good deeds to the point that you can get rid of the sufferings. This is the best. It’s called “lokutara” (beyond this world). In order to stop the suffering, you have to know what causes it or what is bad for your life. If we seriously consider the harm and the negative effects of it over and over, our conscious mind will gradually detach itself from that bad thing. The Dhamma can help us differentiate what is harmful and what is beneficial.  If we listen to the Dhamma and examine it over and over, Lord Buddha says we can become enlightened or free from sufferings. By reviewing Dhamma, there is a special energy that can make us strong. You will be surrounded by good friends, good society and good environment that will constitute happiness. This is Pill Number 8 that will help us strong and healthy.

Pill Number 9 – Balance between Work and Rest

Pill Number 9 is “know when to persevere and when to rest.” This is very important to our health. When you overexert yourself, the body will be damaged. When you don’t do enough, it’s bad for your health as well. It’s not good for blood circulation and bad for the virtue. It’s bad for your health. And where is the point that we should stop to rest? Lord Buddha mentions that when we experience hardship, we will receive meritorious deeds. We have to reach the point that it’s hard work for us but not too hard. Do not reach the point that you are torturing yourself. Then rest till you have enough energy. So you persevere till you are tired but do not get sick. Then have enough rest. Keep working and resting like this. The body will be strong. However, do not be too strict with yourself about this. Just do as much as you can. Just work as much as you can. When you are tired, rest. Try not to get sick. Be industrious as much as you can. However, in real life, sometimes we have to work too much in order to accomplish something important within a deadline. If that’s worth it, you can devote yourself and keep going till you feel exhausted, overwhelmed or even ill. But only allow that every now and then. If you do that, you will have to fix the body later by resting. Do not let this happen too often. Sometimes we just have to sit and do nothing such as sitting in a car or on a plane. We can’t do anything. So, just rest. Sitting and doing nothing may affect the blood circulation. This is a good time for resting. So in summary, we should persevere as much as we can, but not to the point that we will get sick. This technique can be used to make our body strong. This is Pill No. 9.

A balanced diet according to the dharma-based medicine (Recipe for defeating demons)

Decoding the balanced diet according to the dharma-based medicine (Recipe for defeating demons)

A balanced diet according to the dharma-based medicine (Recipe for defeating demons)
1.Vegetables of different colors gas contains different level of heat. We should consume those
with less heat first. For example, we should consume vegetables which are translucent, white, green, yellow, red, purple then black, respectively.

1. This will aid digestion

2. This will help reduce impatience.

2. Consider eating less dense vegetables first. The more dense the vegetable, the more energy it contains. For example, eat bell peppers (less dense) first then sweet pepper (dense) and then black pepper (more dense).

3. If the vegetables are equal in density, consider eating the less aromatic ones (low heat) first then more aromatic ones  (high heat) last.

Take food in the correct order, one at a time. Chew slowly and carefully until food turns into liquid before swallowing.

If your food lacks oil and fat, add coconut or nuts or a teaspoon or two of vegetable oil (or as much as required to maintain lifeforce).
End with salt that is added to soup or water. (On average you should consume 1 teaspoon of salt daily. It is also ok to skip salt on some days).

If you eat like this, your life will be simple and peaceful. This is the recipe to defeat mara. You will become enlightened with every bit.

When you mix your vegetables and boil them together, the elements within each vegetable will synergize to provide a new element that is needed to maintain health. Although sometimes, certain individuals, will need the elements to be separated. In such case, we can blanch the vegetables one at a time.
